I have had some fun meetings lately with different amazing brands, and I wanted to share some of my discoveries and new favorites that I’ve been exploring along the way. I got to catch up with By Terry’s Head of Artistry, Albane Laloy a few weeks ago over lunch at Soho House. Based in Europe, she was in town visiting for a few days, and I was lucky enough to catch up with her and learn some new launches and cult products from By Terry.
I have been a fan of By Terry for a few years (hello Baume de Rose), and have loved every product I’ve ever played with. I have to say, there is something about getting more education about products that helps you understand the how and the why of using it, so I was excited to have a face to face meeting. By Terry was always kind of that mystery brand to me (meaning I loved it, but I wanted to learn more) so getting time to get more education was so valuable to me. I guess that is how you guys feel coming to me to get information about things I’ve personally used: full circle here!
Albane showed me some of their amazing sets they have out for holiday (which is always the best time of year to buy), and I loved that the colors in the sets are ones that you can incorporate into your everyday wear. I always recommend people to buy makeup or skincare for themselves over the holidays, especially if it’s a line you’ve been wanting to check out, because it’s when you will get the most value, and makeup RARELY goes on sale. (Or make sure you write Santa a very detailed list with links!) Anyways, I just mentioned a few of the sets in the video, but there are a lot, including some of their cult skin products online that you should definitely check out.
She also showed me the beautiful Cellularose Brightening Serums, which are amazing to wear by themselves, used as a primer before foundation, or simply mixed in with your foundation. In the video I prepped with the lighter serum, but wear both even with how fair my skin is, and they both look incredible. Here’s the skinny:
A workable, non-drying, non-greasy fluid with an easy-wear texture that melts into a sheer veil on all skin tones. Long-lasting protection for the skin. Camouflages imperfections. Smooths lines. Plumps the micro-relief of the skin.
It feels great on the skin, and gives the most beautiful radiance without looking greasy. It’s the perfect glow.
I actually had the By Terry CC Cream in my collection of foundations at home, but hadn’t pulled it out for a while so it was fun to re-visit. When I used it the day before I shot this video, I was beside myself that I haven’t been using it lately because it is so incredibly beautiful! It’s definitely back in high ranking order rotation of my go-to foundations. It’s light weight, and gives the perfect smooth, velvety finish.
Pure botanical technology and color control concentrate, this CC Cream gathers together in itself all the skincare and makeup actions in one single gesture: An intense hydration thanks to the Centifolia Roses Native Cells. A deep glow provided by the Alba Roses Native Cells. A youth protection released by anti-oxidant Vitamin E. A natural long lasting perfection revealed by the unique CC – Color Control – corrective technology. An absolute comfort via nutri-moistening factors. Its non-oily texture, subtly tinted, blurs imperfections and ideally adapts to each and every complexion. Instantaneously, the skin is unified, protected, luminous, smoothed and plumped.
It feels like the perfect instagram filter (think Valencia), and it wears all day long. I don’t find myself looking too overly shiny or greasy as the day goes. It just feels like your skin, but better.
I touched up any areas that needed a little more attention with the Stylo Expert Click Stick after my brightening serum and foundation were already on. I always conceal after foundation because it’s where you can have the most natural results. Only really layer on more makeup where you truly need it.
By Terry’s Stylo Expert Click Stick is an all-in-one concealer that provides easy and precise applications to conceal, brighten, and contour with its ergonomic drop-shaped tip applicator. Featuring I.M.C® (Intensive Mimetic Camouflage) technology, this creamy, lightweight formula provides a velvet smooth finish, while hiding dark circles, wrinkles, fine lines, and imperfections.
I then finished with one of their holiday cheek palettes, and used a big fluffy bronzing brush to diffuse a nice glow onto my cheeks. (Side note: If you are experiencing some texture or breakouts on the cheeks, I would probably steer away from using it until it’s cleared, I know for me even with the few bumps I had it seemed to show them off a little more…) I just want to be real with you because it was something that I noticed with it on. On the other hand, I don’t normally wear a lot of cheek products with shimmer in them, and it was really gorgeous when the light would hit them and especially in photographs. Would be fabulous to put over your blush at night.
Anyways, you can see the start to finish in this video, as well as a little bit more information of how the product looks and feels. I also showed some more of the holiday gift sets. If you’ve been curious about this brand, I can tell you in confidence that whatever you try you will love. I have used different things over the years, and have always been impressed with whatever I’ve used.
