The stunning Lana, we all know her, we all love her. I remember when I first heard her music- her voice alone was love at first listen. To top it off- I was in awe when I saw a photo of her for the first time. She was stunningly beautiful in such a feminine, sexy way. The combination of the two was a very deserved woman crush! Not to mention, all of her music lyrics having so many references to the West Coast, where I live. It’s funny- when her first album came out, it was right at the time I moved to LA. I remember listening to that album on repeat in my car. (Since you spend so much time in the car in LA, you could imagine now how the first album has so much meaning to me.) Every time I hear it now, it brings me back to that new place. New thoughts, new experiences, new adventures. I love how music can affect our lives like that. It’s such a cool feeling.
ANYWAYS- back to the makeup……
With the new album from Lana just coming out, it had me online looking through photos of her. I think we can all remember the iconic photos of her from her article with Interview- with the bumble bee. Though this look is stronger then her typical day to day look, I still thought it would be a fun tutorial to show.
I think learning to do your eyeliner in this way- you can interpret it and do many versions for yourself. You could go even bolder than I did with the thickness of it, or go easier and do a thinner or more smoldering liner. You could also opt out of doing the bottom liner, leaving it just for a dramatic cat eye on the top. Basically, the possibilities are endless! Notice the technique, however, and you can arrive at this look in a few different product selections. For this video I combined using a liquid liner and a soft retractable pencil- which in my opinion is a winning combination ! You could also add more lashes then I did, and if you are feeling really creative- add a few on the bottom as well! Ok makeup rambling- but you get the point- this video will show you some new techniques- and then from there you can run with it- individualizing it for yourself! This is why I love makeup- once you understand the basics and practice your techniques, it opens up your life for a lot of fun combinations.
I also have some new goodies I am loving right now in this video- an awesome highlighter from Kiko, and an amazing velvety cream blush from YSL that everybody needs to own. You’ll see why when you watch!
So without further chit chat- here is the video! This one is a little longer because the technique is a little more technical- and I wanted you to be able to see it to learn. I also applied some false lashes so that takes a little longer as well. So fast forward, pause, rewind, replay, do what you need, but if anything- ENJOY! I made this video from the mountains in France- so while everyone is hiking, mountain biking, and snowboarding, I’m in my room trying to look like Lana Del Rey….haha! Don’t worry I got my fix of nature before I made this video- and had to wash it off after I made it so I didn’t scare all of the naturalists of the mountains during dinner
