More VOLUME? YES PLEASE! I want you to join me for a little hair journey today! One of the best parts of my job is exploring and testing products for you guys, and I have discovered something that is so innovative and exciting! I had the opportunity to collaborate with John Frieda on a new product that is actually a treatment in the shower. It’s called the Luxurious Volume 7 Day In-Shower Treatment. So what exactly does that mean?

Basically it’s a treatment you use in the shower after your shampoo and conditioner. It changes the texture of fine hair, leaving it full of body after multiple washes. The treatment actually penetrates into each hair fiber, which amplifies the hair and gives it more volume. It’s a semi-permanent treatment, so after three washes it fades out of the hair.

I used the treatment in the shower and then documented my hair with pictures for the seven days after the treatment. I wanted to share my hair diary with this product so you could see for yourself!

As you know I’m quite the detailed person, so I’m going to give you all the nitty-gritty dets! Starting with the initial use…

I always wash my hair generally at night, as I did with this treatment. I shampooed and conditioned my hair as usual, using the John Frieda Luxurious Volume Touchably Full Shampoo and Conditioner.  After the conditioner was rinsed out, I squeezed out the excess water in my hair to prep it for the treatment. Since I have shorter hair, the instructions suggest putting it throughout all of the hair. (If you have longer hair you should only use it from the roots to mid-shaft.) I used 3-4 pumps starting at my roots, and made sure I worked it through my entire head (lifting up pieces and getting it through the sides and back as well.) Note: it doesn’t feel like a slippery conditioner when you put it in your hair, so sometimes it’s confusing and you are wondering if you are applying enough product…but just trust the fact that you are! After it was in, I left it on for about four minutes. I would recommend getting a wide tooth comb and brushing your hair before the treatment application. I think it would make the application a lot more even and easier to apply.

After the shower, I applied the John Frieda Volume Building Mousse. Just a palm sized amount is all you really need. Next, I gave my hair my usual blowout…brushing it in every direction to promote volume and movement.  Keep in mind, my hair is pretty straight and soft naturally, so I don’t have to work too hard to get it smooth. I always have to work hard to get volume and texture.

When I finished blowdrying my hair, it had so much more volume than usual! You could actually see how my roots had visible lift and volume! I was in shock! My best friend was at my house, and we were laughing at how full my hair was without even doing anything above and beyond my usual styling. (Of course she also had to immediately hop in the shower to use it in her hair….!)

Whenever I would touch my hair to fluff it, the hold would stay! I definitely could feel that there was something in my hair, yet it didn’t feel greasy. I never wear my hair straight because I feel like it’s so flat and boring….but with the 7 Day Volume In-Shower Treatment I now feel like it’s possible! I would recommend that you don’t go overboard with the product….less is more. Stick to the instructions and don’t add extra. I think I was eager to use everything and used a little bit too much mousse!

The second day I added just a slight bit of wave in my hair with the curling iron, and as you can see, I still had a ton of volume and movement!

The third day I gave myself a lot of texture with my curling iron wand. I like to do this when my hair is dirty because I feel like it holds the texture better. As you can see in the photos, even after three days I still have a lot of lift and movement in my hair.

The fourth day it was time to wash! I washed my hair at night, and used my blowdryer to dry my hair. In the morning I simply added a little bit of waves with the curling iron, and changed the placement of my part. I was skeptical to see if I would still get volume after washing my hair, and it was there! This time I used a little less mousse than the first time, and was super happy with the foundation of volume that was still in my roots.

For the final three days, I played with my hair a couple of different ways. I started with it half up and with some texture, and my backcombing definitely stayed a lot better than it had in the past! The sixth day I added a braid in the front, and I also felt like I could make the braid bigger and it didn’t slip out at all. On the last day I pulled up the front for my yoga class, but as you can see in the back it still had nice lift…..especially for being SO dirty…..!

I’m sure you can see and feel my excitement for this addition to my hair regimen. It’s funny how adding one more step (that only takes 4 minutes), can add so much to your look! Especially if you are like me and always trying to add volume to your hair. As I mentioned, my best friend also used the treatment and it was the perfect test for me to see because her hair is a lot different than mine. She has long hair, and it is a finer texture than mine. She was thrilled at how much easier her hair was to do, and she definitely had more volume, even with her hair being a lot longer!

If you are looking for something to add to your hair for instant volume and texture, I would totally recommend this 7 Day Volume Treatment. I’m using it regularly now every three washes (I even packed it to Europe with me….!) Cheers to full, voluminous hair, and can’t wait to see yours! Xx
