Honest Beauty

As you may know, I moved to West Hollywood about 2 months ago.  What’s the perk of living in that area?  You can actually walk places!  I luckily live within walking distance to The Grove, so when I have some downtime it’s a nice way to get out of the house and do some window shopping….errrr….real shopping!  I guess it’s both a blessing and a curse, right?!

Honest Beauty has a cute little pop up store in the Grove, tucked back by Sprinkles Cupcakes.  I randomly popped into the store 2 weeks ago because I wanted to check out both the store, and touch some of the product.  I had never used any of the line before.

What did I discover?  It’s simple and straightforward.  I liked that.  Easy to understand, enough but not too much, and beautiful without being too complicated.

Sometimes when you are discovering a whole new line, it can be a bit overwhelming.  I’ll admit, I didn’t know where to start, but luckily one of the cute artists wanted to show me one of their best sellers and award winning products: the Everything Primer.  Here’s the skinny:

Hyaluronic acid and a botanical peptide help keep skin looking smooth and pores less noticeable. Peony root, a firming active ingredient, adds plumpness to the skin and aloe vera conditions. Infused with orange flowerwater and mica this face primer delivers a subtle golden glow. Luminous, flawless looking skin in one simple step. Boom!

I decided to pick up a bottle because I loved the ingredients, and when I had tried it on the back of my hand I loved the texture.  It had such a nice honey glow, and was super lightweight.  I actually never typically use primers, so it must have been good to get me to buy one!

I’ve been using this primer everyday since I bought it, and I’m really loving it.  It’s a versatile product that you could use all on it’s own with a little concealer if you are having a no makeup/light makeup day, or layer underneath your foundation or tinted moisturizer for a perfect prep.

I also picked up a sample of the Everything Tinted Moisturizer, and I’ve been loving it so much I went back to buy a bottle!

Chamomile and calendula help to calm and soothe. Antioxidant-rich grapeseed oilolive oil and aloe vera moisturize and condition skin. Infused with orange flower water, this tinted moisturizer offers true color and coverage for softer looking skin that’s perfected and protected. A mineral-based broad spectrum sunscreen using non-nano zinc oxide. Similar to a BB or CC cream with foundation-like coverage but a lightweight finish. Go face the day!

I really like the texture of this tinted moisturizer.  It feels thicker than other brands I’ve used in the past, but also fuses into the skin and doesn’t make me feel like I’m wearing makeup or that it’s too heavy.  I love this about it.  I still feel like it evens out my skin tone and blurs any of my sunspots or imperfections, but I don’t feel gross at the end of the day.  I love that it’s a broad spectrum with an SPF 20 and zinc oxide is one of the main ingredients.  So important to always protect your skin no matter what!

I’m so glad that I popped into this store and discovered some new great products!  Aren’t you proud of me too?  Many of you have asked about primers, so I can safely say this is one that I’m a major fan of!  Have any of you used any products from Honest yet?  If so, tell me what you love!  Xx

Hello! I love your blog! I have a question, so you think these products would work with oily skin?

I just ordered some of the tinted moisturizer thanks to your recommendation! I love your blog but am always on the lookout for hair and makeup products that don’t test on animals. So looking forward to this one. Thanks!

What color of the Honest tinted moisturizer do you use? I think we have similar skin color and the one I ordered turned out to be too yellow on me. Thanks!

I use the color Honest Cream! I do, however, tend to have a more yellow undertone!
