Hairdo.

If you are anything like me, you probably love to change your hair, or at least like to daydream about the idea of changing it. I know when I was younger, I was constantly changing my hair. Dark, short, platinum, long, copper, fringe, layers, one length, straight, wavy, and so on…… You name it, I’ve probably done it. It was a really fun phase in my life and I’m so glad that I got to experience a lot of different versions of myself.
However, as I’ve gotten older, I’ve realized that change doesn’t come as often as it used to, or I feel like it’s much more of a risk than it ever used to be for myself. In the past, I used to wake up one day, decide I wanted to be a redhead, and make it happen immediately. Now, I still have ideas, but I try to sit on them for a while before doing anything impulsive. I don’t know what changed in me, but changing my look feels much scarier than it used to be.

hairdoLuckily, with the way the hair industry is now, it is possible to change your look without the commitment. Some Extensions and hair pieces are so good now, that you can give yourself that fringe you’ve been thinking about but been too afraid to commit to, or give yourself fuller, longer hair. I recently discovered extensions from Hairdo, and it has totally fixed my need for change and given me some excitement in my day to day look without the drastic commitment.fringe2fringe4

Fringe for a day: PERFECT! I’ve had so much fun giving myself fringe again. (Remember last fall when I had a fringe?) Sometimes I miss it, but now I don’t have to and can have them back whenever I want. This clip in fringe hair piece comes ready to go, but also is really easy to customize to your current hairstyle. It comes shorter in the middle with the side pieces longer, and I ended up trimming the sides up a little bit to have a better shape with the rest of my haircut. If shaping is something you are uncomfortable doing on your own, take it to your hairdresser and let them do the trimming! Then you simply clip in, style your hair as usual, and you have a completely new look!

I grew my hair out! Again, I’m loving rocking the shorter hair, but of course I have moments that I wished my hair was longer like it used to be. Now I can instantly have long hair. I chose these 16” extensions in the color “Buttered Toast”, and can clip them in and blend them in to the rest of my hair. I styled them to the side, because for me it felt like a fresh and modern way to have long hair, and love how realistic and natural they look. They are actually pre-colored into an ombre, so the color blends with how my hair is without the extensions…..how cool is that?

Add in a braid! When having short hair, you miss out on the fun styling opportunities you get with having longer hair. Naturally I had to give myself a braid, and it is so much fun! I kept in the same set of extensions, and secured an elastic at the base of my braid, and then braided as usual. I love the look, and especially paired with a hat.

The fun thing about these extensions is that it’s almost like picking out an outfit, it’s all based on the mood of the day or what style you are going for. My favorite part is that you can take it out at the end of the day and go back to your classic look!
So now the fun part: Hairdo is launching a campaign to find their next “It” Girl. All you have to do is submit your best selfie capturing the brands fresh, fearless personality over Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter with the tag #HairdoItGirl or online HERE.

The grand prize winner will receive a 3-day trip to New York for a personalized makeover and photoshoot with celebrity stylist Kristina Barricelli, complete with $1000 for a Manhattan shopping spree! Ten runners-up will chose up to $500 worth of their favorite styles from the brand. The last day to enter the contest is November 9th, and voting for the top girl will begin on Wednesday, November 11th. Voting will close November 17th and the winner will be announced the following Thursday, November 19th.

Let’s have some fun with this! What a cool contest, and I know you all are fun and fresh, so let’s see those selfies! Keep a lookout for me always changing my hair, and now you know….it’s probably just extensions! Xx

How would I describe to my hair stylist on how to cut my hair like yours. My hair is very like yours already. I have some layers on the outside but looks like your layers or point cutting is in the inside.
    Thanks for your help

I don’t have layers on top. It’s a one length cut and have some texture put on in the interior. She usually cuts it more blunt, but over time I think it gets more textured looking on the ends! Hope that helps!
