I remember my first tube of Burberry Lipstick, I was actually living in Milan at the time. I think a friend gifted it to me, and I was beside myself. I remember just holding the tube, and admiring the detail of the packaging. I think the actual lipstick was a dark wine color, and I wore that lipstick all through the winter whilst I was living there.
Funny how little moments like that can make you feel a certain way or impact you, I think it was my first real “feeling” with luxury makeup.
Fast forward to now, and imagine my face when I got a precious little Burberry package delivered to me in the mail. It basically was a big cheesy grin, if you were wondering….
I have always been a fan of velvet finish lip products and hadn’t tried Burberry’s, so was eager to try once I got my paws on them. I was nothing short of impressed and happy, and I have to say that the colors are to die for. The tones are spot-on!
So if you are curious what a VELVET lip product is, let me enlighten you, straight from Burberry’s mouth:
- Introducing Liquid Lip Velvet, a new statement-making matte cream colour with a comforting, whipped texture.
- Developed with a new, innovative formula that combines rich pigment, smooth application and a whipped, creamy texture to create a bold, velvet finish that lasts for up to eight hours. The comfortable, non-drying formula keeps lips supple and moisturised during wear, ensuring the colour does not dry, fade or crack.
- Available in our boldest palette, each of the 14 shades coats lips with a shot of saturated colour in one gliding movement.

They application is so smooth and the finish feels like you don’t have anything on. I love that! It’s nice when you are trying to keep pigment on your lips. A lot of the times with regular lipsticks for me it ends up feeling too heavy, cakey, or frankly it just doesn’t stay on! I was surprised in wearing this that I still had it on after hours of wear, and it still looked fresh.
The formula does come in 14 shades, and here are some of my favorites from the line. (How perfect is that nude?!)
A little tip for those that don’t like the feeling of matte: I will put this on as a base coat, and then use a tinted lip balm over the top. Yes it does change the effect, but if you can’t get past the lightweight, velvet finish, that’s an alternative. No matter what, since you are putting the Liquid Lip on first, you will have the longevity and pigment.
I’m glad Burberry named this a Liquid Lip VELVET, because it is just like velvet, and don’t let the term “Liquid Lip” scare you like a lot of other brands out there…..do you know what I mean? These are fantastic, chic, and fun, and I know it’s one you will be using constantly! Xx
